8-51 What factors determine the load of the dryer?

The load of the dryer is determined by water content in compressed air, flow rate, inlet temperature, working pressure, and relative humidity of the suction environment.

Answer: The load of the dryer depends on the water content of the compressed air being processed. The more water content, the higher the load. Therefore, in addition to being directly related to the flow rate  (Nm3/min) of the compressed air being processed, the parameters that have the greatest impact on the load of the dryer are:

(1) Inlet temperature. The higher the temperature, the more water the air contains, and the higher the load of the cold dryer.

(2) Working pressure. Under the same temperature conditions, the lower the saturated air pressure, the more water it contains, and the higher the load of the cold dryer.

In addition, the relative humidity of the air compressor suction environment is also related to the saturated water content of the compressed air, and therefore also affects the load of the cold dryer: the higher the relative humidity, the more water contained in the saturated compressed gas, and the higher the load of the cold dryer.
