8-55 What should be noted when using a cold dryer?

When using a cold dryer, note the compressed air's flow, pressure, and temperature, installation site, grounding, proximity to gas point, environment, filtration accuracy, cooling water pipes, drain maintenance, and avoid continuous starts.

Answer: The following matters should be noted when using a cold dryer:

(1) The flow pressure and temperature of the compressed air should be within the allowable value range on the nameplate.

(2) The installation site should be ventilated and dust-free. There should be enough heat dissipation and maintenance space around the machine and it should not be installed outdoors to avoid rain and direct sunlight.

(3) Cold dryers are generally allowed to be installed without a foundation, but the ground must be leveled.

(4) It should be as close to the gas point as possible to avoid excessively long pipelines.

(5) There should be no detectable corrosive gases in the surrounding environment. In particular, it should not be placed in the same room with ammonia refrigeration equipment.

(6) The filtration accuracy of the cold dryer pre-filter should be appropriate. Too high an accuracy is not necessary for the cold dryer.

(7) The cooling water inlet and outlet pipes should be set independently, especially the outlet pipe should not be shared with other water cooling equipment to avoid drainage obstruction caused by pressure difference.

(8) The automatic drain should be kept unobstructed at all times.

(9) Do not start the cold dryer continuously.

(10) When the parameters of the dryer's actual compressed air processing, especially the inlet temperature and working pressure, do not match the rated values, they must be corrected according to the "correction factor" provided in the sample to avoid overload operation.
